SUBJECT
Airbag Warning Lamp Illuminated, FC 93B0 or 93B1
MODEL
R55 (Cooper Clubman, Cooper S Clubman)
Vehicles with option SA403 (Dual panel panoramic sunroof)
SITUATION
The airbag warning lamp is illuminated and either FC 93B0 or 93B1 (Driver or Passenger head airbag - short to negative) is stored in the ACSM (Advanced Crash Safety Module).
PROCEDURE
In the case of a customer complaint, do not replace the ACSM control module.
Depending on the stored fault code, perform the following repair instruction on either the driver or passenger side:
1. Partially lower the headliner so that the head airbag near the B-pillar, including the connector (1) and the wiring harness (2), can be inspected.
2. Check if the connector is loose or a pin is bent. Resecure the connection or repair the bent pin, as appropriate.
3. Check whether the wiring is damaged at the sharp rear edge of the sunroof cross bracket. Protect the sharp edge with fabric tape and as necessary, repair and reinsulate the harness.
