Clicking Noise from Rear Suspension on Uneven Road Surface

MODEL
[NEW]R55 from 12/31/2007 to 12/30/2009

SITUATION
A clicking noise is heard from the rear suspension on uneven roads

CAUSE





There is excessive weld spatter on the contact surface between the rear shock absorber mount and the body (1).

PROCEDURE

Confirm that the noise is coming from the rear shock mounts. Remove both shock absorbers and check for excessive weld spatter on the contact surface between the body and the shock guide support. Scrape away weld spatter from the body. Apply zinc-based brushable primer to any bare metal exposed afier removing the weld spatter.





[NEW] Install gasket P/N 33 50 6 798 878 (1) on the top of each shock mount before reinstalling the shocks.
