Repair Instruction For 'whizzing Noises From The Gear Lever'
Complaint
Whizzing noises from the gear lever at an engine speed above 5000 rpm, mainly in 2nd gear. The noise disappears when a load is applied to the gear lever.
Repair instruction
1. Check firm seating of selector lever knob
2. Check routing of the selector lever cables
3. Check whether a vibration damper is fitted on the shift cable
4. Fit securing clips on the end of the shift cable on the transmission side
5. If the noise can still be heard after fitting the securing clips, install a vibration damper on the shift cable as shown in the illustration.
