SI M 21 01 08
Clutch

February 2008
Technical Service

SUBJECT
Fluid Leak at Clutch Slave Cylinder During Replacement

MODEL
R55 (Clubman and Clubman S) all models

R56 (Cooper and Cooper S) all models

INFORMATION
During the removal and installation of the clutch slave cylinder a small amount of fluid can be seen if the push rod is not kept in line with the clutch slave cylinder housing, permitting some fluid to leak past the push rod seal. When the push rod is returned to its proper position the leak will stop. This is not a defect of the clutch slave cylinder and replacement is not justified.

Refer to Repair Instruction RA 21 52 010 Removing and installing or replacing clutch slave cylinder for additional repair information.
