SUBJECT
Knocking Noise from Rear Axle

MODEL
Cooper (R56) produced from 8/06 to 4/07

Cooper S (R56) produced from 8/06 to 4/07

SITUATION
The customer may report a knocking noise from the rear axle which occurs when driving over bumps or uneven road surfaces.

CAUSE
Incorrect rear axle sway bar bushings fitted.

CORRECTION
On a customer complaint basis, check if any visible gap exists between the sway bar bushings and the rear sway bar. If any gap exists, replace the sway bar bushings.
