SUBJECT
iPhone Compatibility on pre 10/07 Production Vehicles

MODEL
R56 (Cooper, Cooper S) with Bluetooth� (SA644) from 12/06 to 10/07 production

SITUATION
The vehicle software can be updated to support the Apple iPhone. This is not a defect and must be paid for by the customer.

PROCEDURE

1. Update the complete vehicle per SI M09 01 07 (Coding, Individualization, Programming) Procedure B using Progman V27.01.00 or higher (Target Data Status R056-07-08-520) or higher.

2. If an iPhone was previously paired to the vehicle, perform these additional steps:

^ After updating the vehicle, the Interface box (MULF-SBX) must be reset to 'Basic Mode' via diagnostic.

^ Perform a short test using BMW Diagnostic Tools with DIS V52 or higher. Until DIS V52 is released, please contact your Market team for support.

^ Select 'Control Unit Functions'.

^ Select 'MULF-SBX'.

^ In the 'Functions' menu, select 'Component Control'.

^ In the 'Part Functions' window, select the 'Default Setting' and then select 'Activate'.

^ Turn the ignition off and wait for the MOST-bus to enter sleep mode (approximately 4 minutes).

^ Delete the vehicle from the Handset's Bluetooth device list.

3. Pair the customer's iPhone to the vehicle. For more information and pairing instructions visit www.wireless4mini.com.

4. Allow the phone book to complete downloading.

5. Check the address book functionality.

6. Test the system by place a phone call via the M-Joy or radio.
