SUBJECT
Service Action: Replace CD Changer Carrier and Trim

MODEL
R56 (Cooper and Cooper S)

SITUATION

The CD changer carrier/dashboard storage bin and the associated trim panels do not meet MINI quality requirements and must be replaced.

Affected vehicles will be in 1 of the 3 following states:

A. A fully functional storage compartment is installed.

B. A fixed trim panel is installed and no CD changer carrier is present.

C. A CD changer carrier and movable flap are present but inoperable, due to SI M51 01 07 having been performed.

Regardless of which state the vehicle is in, it will need to have both the carrier and trim replaced.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

This Service Action involves certain R56 Cooper and Cooper S vehicles produced up to February 15, 2007.

In order to determine if a specific vehicle is affected by this Service Action it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or the Key Reader. Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.

The chassis number ranges listed above are only for informational purposes and are not to be considered as the only deciding factor.

PARTS INFORMATION

PROCEDURE
Refer to the applicable procedure outlined in the attached document shown below.

LABEL INSTRUCTIONS

This Service Action has been assigned code number 30. After the vehicle has been checked and/or corrected, obtain a label (MD20-036) and:

A. Emboss your BMW center warranty number in the middle of the label (1);

B. Punch out code number 30 (2), printed on the label; and

C. Affix the label to the B-pillar as shown.

If the vehicle already has a label from a previous Service Action/Recall Campaign, affix the new label next to the old one. Do not affix one label on top of another one, because a number from an underlying label could appear in the punched-out hole of the new label.
