SUBJECT
Alarm Activates by Opening the Tailgate Via the Remote

MODEL
R56 (Cooper, Cooper S) produced up to June 5, 2007

SITUATION
The anti-theft alarm (DWA) activates by opening the tailgate via the Remote Control.

CAUSE
When triggered by the Remote Control, a bad adjustment of the tailgate causes the tailgate lock to unlock but not release the tailgate. As a result, the DWA re-arms. If the tailgate is opened manually afterwards, the alarm sounds.

CORRECTION
Adjust the tailgate following repair instruction RA 41 62 014 (Adjusting rear lid to fit).
