Replacing a Gaiter on Output Shaft

31 60 030 - Replacing a gaiter on output shaft





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove output shaft.





Remove clamp securing the sleeve on constant-velocity joint (1).
Remove clamp securing the sleeve on shaft (2).
Remove sleeve from joint.





Firmly hold shaft and drive inner joint (1) off shaft.
Remove sleeve from shaft.

Installation:
Slide new sleeve and seal onto shaft.





Generously pack joint with grease and fit on shaft. Make sure that the joint rests on the new ring on the shaft.
Press ring (1) into groove and tap joint onto shaft.





Slide sleeve onto joint and shaft and make sure that the seal beading of the sleeve fits in grooves (1).





Secure clips on sleeve as illustrated.
