Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair




12 62 500 - Replacing coolant temperature sensor (DME)





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit
- Check stored fault messages
- Switch off ignition
- Remove intake filter housing Service and Repair
- Drain coolant down to below height of thermostat housing Service and Repair
- R50 only:Remove battery housing Removing and Installing/Replacing Battery Container





Warning!
Danger of scalding!
Only carry out work on the cooling system after the engine has cooled down!





Unlock plug (1) and remove.
Remove coolant temperature sensor (2).
Tightening torque 12 62 1AZ.
Refill and vent cooling system.





Note:
Now clear the fault memory.
