Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair
11 14 141 - Replacing shaft seal below timing chain cover
Special tools required:
- 11 2 320
- 11 8 241 11 8 240 Assembly Tool
- 11 8 242 11 8 240 Assembly Tool
- 11 8 270 11 8 270 Thrust Piece
- 11 8 290 11 8 290 Extractor
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove vibration damper Service and Repair.
Insert special tool 11 8 270 11 8 270 Thrust Piece in crankshaft.
Place special tool 11 8 290 11 8 290 Extractor on crankshaft and screw in until is firmly contacts shaft seal (1).
Pull out shaft seal (1) by tightening screw.
Remove special tool 11 8 270 11 8 270 Thrust Piece.
Screw special tool 11 8 242 11 8 240 Assembly Tool into crankshaft (see illustration).
Coat sealing lip of new shaft seal with oil.
Press in shaft seal with special tools 11 2 320 and 11 8 241 11 8 240 Assembly Tool.
Installation:
The shaft seal is correctly fitted when it is flush with the timing chain cover.
Assemble engine.
Check engine for leaks.
