Oil Cooler: Service and Repair

11 44 000 Removing And Installing/Replacing Oil-Water Heat Exchanger (COOPER S)

Warning: Danger of scalding!

Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.





Release pressure cap on coolant expansion tank.

Remove right hand front road wheel.

Drain coolant.

Disconnect pipes (1) from heat exchanger (2) and catch and dispose of coolant.





Remove heat exchanger retaining bolts (1) and remove heat exchanger.
Oil/water heat exchanger to oil filter housing
M6 12 Nm





Remove sealing rings (1).

Clean all sealing surfaces.

Install new sealing rings and refit heat exchanger.

Note: Heat exchanger location lugs (2).

Check engine oil level.

Bleed and top-up cooling system.
