Removing And Installing Side Airbag (Front Seat)
WARNING!
Note safety regulations for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners.
Refer to Safety instructions for working on cars with airbag systems.
Incorrect handling can activate airbags and cause injury.
Remove front seat.
Remove Torx screw (1) securing seat backrest recline lever (2) and remove lever.
Remove Torx screw (3) securing rear seat easy entry lever (4) and remove lever.
Tightening torque 6 Nm
Release backboard lower trim retaining straps (1) from cushion suspension.
Release backboard clips from backrest by pulling in direction shown.
Remove backboard (1).
Release cushion cover rear retaining strip (1) from frame.
Rotate 'Yellow' MRS connector anti-clockwise (as shown) and release from cushion frame.
Release airbag harness from retaining clips (2) on cushion frame.
Release airbag harness from cushion frame.
WARNING!
Take care when disconnecting airbag module strap so that NO damage is caused to the strap by the buckle.
Disconnect airbag module strap (1).
Release backrest cover retaining strip (2) from backrest frame.
Release airbag harness from retaining clip (3).
Remove nuts (4) securing airbag module to backrest frame.
Tightening torque 6 Nm.
Release grommet (5).
WARNING!
Take care when passing harness through seat frame as the frame edges can be sharp.
Release airbag harness from backrest.
Remove airbag.
Install hint:
When re-assembling the airbag module to the seat backrest, ensure the installation is the same as shown.
