Brake System ABS/DSC

Removing And Installing / Replacing The Master Brake Cylinder For DSC

Note:
- Refer to general information, see Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems, Description and Operation.
- After completing work, bleed brake system, refer to Brake Bleeding, Service and Repair. Service and Repair

Remove expansion tank.

Remove battery box (R50).

Remove intake filter housing (R53).





Disconnect brake pipes (1).
Tightening torque:
- Brake pipe couplings
- M10 x 1 14 Nm
- M12 x 1 14 Nm

Remove nuts (2).

Disconnect connector (3).

Remove brake master cylinder from brake booster.

Install Hint:
Replace self-locking nuts. Tightening torque:
- Brake master cylinder to brake booster (vacuum) 21 Nm





Install Hint:
Replace O-ring (1) and (2).





Install Hint:
When inserting master brake cylinder into brake booster, make sure pressure rod of brake booster and pressure rod of master brake cylinder are in one plane.
