51 71 406 Removing And Installing/Replacing Rear Spoiler (JCW GP)

Note: Carry out work while wearing gloves.







Release left and right screws (1).

Installation:
Pay attention to correct hole pattern.
Rear spoiler must be fitted without strain, refer to last work step.







Release screws (1) on left side section (2).
Remove left side section (2) and rear spoiler (3).
Release screws (1) on right side section (2) and remove right side section (2).

Installation:
Spacer sleeves (4) must be fitted. If necessary, recondition bore in rear lid and insert spacer sleeves (4).
All parts of rear spoiler must be fitted without tension, see last work step.
Side section (2) must be parallel to rear window.







Installation: Seals (1 to 2) on side section (4) must not be damaged.







Important:
- Rear spoiler (1) must be correctly seated in opening on side section (3) and in seal (2).
- If rear spoiler is not correctly seated in opening and seal (2), this may result in deformation and breakage of rear spoiler (1) or side section (3).
- Hole pattern of rear spoiler (1) must line up with side section (3); if necessary, carefully grind rear spoiler (1) at sides.








Important:
- Risk of damage.
- Rear spoiler (1) must be fitted without tension, otherwise it may break.


Installation:
Secure rear spoiler (1) with all screws.
Align rear spoiler (1) to rear lid (2) in accordance with dimension (A).
Measure dimension (A) at car centre line (3).
A = 181.6 mm

Make sure spoiler is fitted without strain and tighten down all screws to specified torque.

3AZ Rear spoiler to holder, rear spoiler 5 Nm

4AZ Holder, rear spoiler to rear lid 4 Nm
