Removing and Installing/Replacing Shift Tower (ECVT)

Removing And Installing/replacing Shift Tower (ECVT)
Move selector lever in P position.
Remove center console.
Remove interlock cable.





Disconnect position switch connector (1).

Remove rear muffler.





Remove front heat shield fixings (1).
Front heat shield fixings 2-3 Nm

Note: It is not necessary to remove the heat shield.





Remove center heat shield fixings (1).
Intermediate heat shield fixings 2-3 Nm

Remove shift cable from floor support





Remove shift housing retaining bolts (1).
Shift housing to body 9 Nm





Slacken cable retaining nut (1).

Squeeze cable retaining clip (2) and remove cable from abutment bracket (3).

Remove cable (4).
Shift cable to selector lever
M8 12 Nm





Unclip housing from floor (1).

Support selector lever.

Remove housing.





Remove shift cable retaining clip and remove shift cable from gear lever.
(1) Shift cable retaining clip.
(2) Gear lever.
(3) Ball retaining sleeve.
(4) Ball retaining sleeve location lug.

Note: When removing cable from shift lever it is necessary to release the ball retaining sleeve with the cable.





Install new cable if necessary.

Refit housing to body.

Note: Ensure housing seal is correctly located.

Move shift lever (1) to park position.

Refit cable into gearbox abutment bracket and insert cable into cable clamp.

Refit cable to floor support.





Ensure transmission selector lever (1) is in P position (push selector lever to front of vehicle).

Tighten cable clamp (2).
Shift cable to selector lever
M8 12 Nm

Refit interlock cable.

Install center console.
