Oil Pan: Service and Repair




Removing And Installing, Sealing Or Replacing Oil Pan
Special tools required:
^ 11 8 401
^ 11 8 402

Turn off ignition.

Disconnect battery.

Remove alternator drive belt.

Unscrew and remove splash guard.

Caution: When working on oil, coolant or fuel circuit:
^ Protect alternator against contamination.
^ Cover alternator with suitable materials.
^ Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an alternator malfunction.





Remove oil drain plug (1).

Drain engine oil.
Oil drain plug to oil sump
M14 x 16 25 Nm
Top up engine oil.
Start engine and run at idle speed, until oil indicator lamp goes out.
Switch off engine, wait approximately 5 minutes.
Check engine oil level.
Top-up oil if necessary.





Remove crush tubes.

Slacken modular front end and fit special tool 11 8 401 and 11 8 402





Disconnect connector from A/C compressor (1).

Remove A/C compressor retaining bolts (2) and lower compressor (3).

Secure compressor to modular front end.

Unclip air conditioning high pressure pipe.
Compressor to engine 25 Nm





Remove lower stabilizer bolts (1) and remove stabilizer.

Remove retaining bolts (2) and remove bracket from oil pan.
Lower stabilizer to oil sump holder 100 Nm
Stabilizer bracket to oil sump 45 Nm





Remove gearbox retaining bolts (1).

Note: Two shorter bolts are installed into the oil pan.
Gearbox to engine retaining bolts
M12 85 Nm





Install hint:
Clean surface of oil pan and cylinder block and check for surface damage.

Replace gasket.





Remove oil pan bolts in sequence (13-1) and remove oil pan.

Tighten oil pan bolts in sequence (1-13).
Oil sump to bearing support
M8 31 Nm

Note: Gasket location lugs during installation.
