Removing and Installing/Replacing Cable For Front Engine Hood Locks (With Storage Compartment)



51 23 211 Removing And Installing/Replacing Cable For Front Engine Hood Locks (With Storage Compartment)

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove grille for air inlet/heating on left/right
- Remove right entrance cover strip
- Disconnect Bowden cable from hood/bonnet lock

W11 engine:
- Remove intake filter housing

W10 and W17 engines:
- Remove battery cover

Version with storage compartment:
- Remove right glovebox

Version with glovebox:
- Remove right glovebox







Disconnect Bowden cables (2) from release lever (1).

Installation: Lay Bowden cables (2) without kinks and correctly through bore (3).







Disconnect Bowden cable (2) on left/right from holders (1).
Feed Bowden cable (2) on left out of bore (3).

Installation: Lay Bowden cable (2) without kinks.







Bowden cable for left hood/bonnet lock, left side:

Note: For purposes of clarity, illustration shows brake booster removed.

Disconnect Bowden cable (1) from holder (2).

Installation: Lay Bowden cable (1) without kinks.

3 Bore







Bowden cable for left hood/bonnet lock, right side:
Unscrew nuts (1).
Carefully pull bulkhead cover (2) forwards.







Note: For purposes of clarity, illustration shows bulkhead cover removed.

Disconnect Bowden cable (1) from holder (2).

Installation: Lay Bowden cable (1) without kinks.

3 Bore







Feed Bowden cable (2) out of bore (3).
Feed Bowden cables (1 and 2) out of bore (4).

Installation: Lay Bowden cables (1 and 2) without kinks.
