Replacing Seat Cover on Left or Right Front Seat (Normal/Manual)
52 13 400 - Replacing seat cover on left or right front seat (normal/manual)
Special tools required:
- 52 0 050 Tools and Equipment
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove front seat Removing and Installing Left or Right Front Seat (Normal/Manual)
- Remove inner trim of seat cushion Removing and Installing/Replacing Inner Panel on Drivers and Front Passenger
- Remove outer trim of seat cushion Removing and Installing/Replacing Outer Panel on Drivers and Front Passenger
- Remove seat belt pretensioner Removing and Installing/Replacing Front Left or Right Buckle Anchorage (Belt Tensioner)
US/CDN front passenger seat (with OC3 mat) only:
If seat cover is defective, seat cover, padding and OC3 mat must be replaced completely.
The same applies to a defective OC3 mat or padding; both parts can only be replaced together with the seat cover.
New seat cover is supplied with padding, OC3 mat and if necessary seat heating.
After fitting, the OC3 mat must be enabled with the diagnosis system.
Individual parts not available.
After fitting seat cover, enable OC3 mat with diagnosis system.
Enabling seat occupancy detector (OC3 mat):
- Connect diagnosis system
- Release seat occupancy detector
- Clear fault memory if necessary
Important!
The mucket (2) must be fitted on the seat frame (3) at corner points (1) (risk of damage to seat cover).
Release rear holder (1) of trim.
Version with seat heating:
Turn (black) plug connection (1) for seat heating counterclockwise and detach from frame.
Cut through cable ties (2) securing wiring harness for seat heating to frame.
Installation:
Secure wiring harness with available clip.
Detach plug connection (3) of seat heating element in backrest.
Remove cover from side holder (1).
Remove clip (2) securing cover.
Release side holder (3) of trim.
Repeat this step on the opposite side.
Release front holder (1) of trim.
Remove upholstered cover.
Installation:
Before installing the upholstered trim, make sure the upholstery material is resting correctly on the seat cushion frame.
Version with OC3 mat:
- OC3 mat must not be kinked under any circumstances.
Detach all retainers in side area from longitudinal wires (1).
Pull trim wires (1) forward out of seat cover.
If necessary, depending on version, carefully take up seat cover and release clips from cross-wires.
Remove seat cover from padding.
Important!
Remove all remnants of clips from seat cover and padding.
Padding (1) with OC3 mat (2).
Important!
No retainer remainders may be fitted as well.
Handle OC3 mat with extreme care.
Do not kink OC3 mat.
Do not clamp OC3 mat.
OC3 mat must lie without folds under seat cover.
Installation:
Insert new retainer (2) with special tool 52 0 050 Tools and Equipment and bend closed.
