23 00 022 Removing and Installing Transmission (W10)
Necessary Preliminary Tasks:
- Remove battery housing Service and Repair
- Drain gear oil Service and Repair
- Remove front left wheel arch trim Service and Repair
- Remove both drive shafts with steering stub carrier Service and Repair
- Remove front axle carrier (without wheel alignment!) Service and Repair
- Secure engine in installation position with special tool
- Remove top engine support bracket Service and Repair
- Remove bottom engine support bracket Service and Repair
Release screws (1).
Remove manifold heat shield.
Tightening torque.
Release clips on stop/holder (1) and disconnect shift cable (2) from ball joint.
Release screws (3) for shift cable stop and remove stop/holder (4) for gearshift assembly.
Tightening torque.
Release screws (1).
Remove clutch slave cylinder (2) from transmission.
Tightening torque.
Detach plug connector (1) of reversing light switch.
Detach line connection to brake booster from manifold and unclip from holder.
Press ring downwards to expose line (1).
Important!
Excessive lowering of the engine may damage the exhaust system.
Pay attention to refrigerant line to compressor when lowering the engine.
Release screw (1).
Tightening torque.
Release screws (2).
Tightening torque.
Remove transmission mounting (3).
Lower engine approx. 40 mm.
Release screws (1).
Remove wiring harness for oxygen sensor from clip (2).
Remove starter motor heat shield.
Tightening torque.
Pull transmission downwards and remove.
Release starter motor connections (1 and 2).
Tightening torque.
Remove wiring harness from transmission area.
NOTE:
Routing of wiring harness to starter motor.
Release screws (1) and remove starter motor.
Tightening torque.
Release screws (1).
Remove holder (2) for endplate.
Tightening torque.
NOTE:
A second person is required to help in removing and installing the transmission.
Unfasten screws (1 and 2).
Remove transmission.
Installation:
Screws (2) on transmission oil sump are shorter than the other screws.
Tightening torque.
