Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

Replacing shaft seal below timing case cover

Special Tools Required:
^ 11 8 241
^ 11 8 242
^ 11 8 243
^ 11 8 270
^ 11 8 290


Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove vibration damper.




Insert special tool 11 8 270 into crankshaft.





Place special tool 11 8 290 on crankshaft and screw in until its firmly contacts sahft seal (1).
Pull out shaft seal (1) by tightening screw.






Remove special tool 11 8 270
Screw special tool 11 8 242 into crankshaft (see illustration)






Coat sealing lip of new shaft seal with oil.
Press in shaft seal with special tool 11 8 243 and 11 8 241

Installation:
- The shaft seal is correctly fitted when it is flush with the timing case cover.
