Pinpoint Test N: The Air Suspension Indicator Is Never/Always On (If Equipped)

Normal Operation

The air suspension warning indicator flashes and then stays on with the ignition switch in the RUN position and the air suspension service switch turned off or when a system malfunction is detected. The Instrument Cluster (IC) receives the air suspension status message from the Vehicle Dynamics Module (VDM) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN). If a fault occurs in the air suspension system, a DTC is set and the VDM sends a message to the IC to illuminate the air suspension indicator.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Air suspension system
- VDM
- IC

PINPOINT TEST N: THE AIR SUSPENSION INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON (IF EQUIPPED)

N1 VERIFY THE OPERATION OF THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM


- Operate the air suspension system and verify that it operates correctly.
- Does the air suspension system operate correctly?

Yes
GO to N2.

No
REFER to Vehicle Dynamic Suspension Testing and Inspection.

N2 CARRY OUT THE IC INDICATOR LAMP ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL


- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IC DataLogger .
- Select the IC air suspension indicator (SUSP_LAMP) active command on and off. Observe the air suspension indicator.
- Does the air suspension indicator illuminate when selected on and turn off when selected off?

Yes
INSTALL a new VDM. REFER to Vehicle Dynamic Suspension Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.
