Pinpoint Test AM: The Turn Signal On Warning Chime Is Inoperative

Normal Operation

The turn signal on warning chime is an internal function of the Lighting Control Module (LCM). The LCM monitors the turn signal switch status and receives the odometer rolling count data from the Instrument Cluster (IC) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) communication bus.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Turn signal on warning chime disabled
- LCM

PINPOINT TEST AM: THE TURN SIGNAL ON WARNING CHIME IS INOPERATIVE

AM1 CHECK THE LCM CONFIGURATION


- Verify the turn signal on warning chime is enabled.
- Is the turn signal warning chime enabled?

Yes
GO to AM2.

No
ENABLE the turn signal on warning chime function. REFER to Module Configuration [1][2]Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview. TEST the system for normal operation.

AM2 CHECK OPERATION OF THE TURN SIGNALS


- Ignition ON.
- Operate the turn signals.
- Do the turn signal lamps operate correctly?

Yes
GO to AM3.

No
REFER to Exterior Lighting Testing and Inspection.

AM3 CHECK ODOMETER OPERATION IN THE IC


- Observe the odometer display.
- Does the odometer operate correctly?

Yes
INSTALL a new LCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Service and Repair.

No
GO to Pinpoint Test AP. Pinpoint Test AP: The Odometer Is Inoperative
