Removal and Installation

1. WARNING: Before servicing a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system, depower the system by following the procedure in Fire Suppression System. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious personal injury. Procedures

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.

2. Remove the LH exhaust manifold. For additional information, refer to Exhaust Manifold - LH Exhaust Manifold - LH.

3. Remove the oil level indicator.

4. Remove the bolt and the oil level indicator tube.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

5. NOTICE: Failure to lubricate the O-ring seal and the oil level indicator tube-to-engine block mating surface with clean engine oil may result in engine oil leaks.

NOTICE: Make sure the O-ring seal remains in position and does not roll up the indicator tube during installation or engine oil leaks may occur.

Remove the O-ring seal and discard.

6. WARNING: If the vehicle is equipped with a fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to Fire Suppression System. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury. Description and Operation

To install, reverse the removal procedure. If equipped with a fire suppression system, repower the system.
- Lubricate the new O-ring seal and engine mating surface with clean engine oil.
