Pinpoint Test G: An Individual Demand Lamp Is Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 89, Interior Lamps for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The Smart Junction Box (SJB) supplies voltage to the demand lamps on circuit CLN09 (YE/GN). The demand lamps are ground through circuit GD139 (BK/YE). The glove compartment lamp (MKZ only) is case grounded.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Demand lamp

PINPOINT TEST G: AN INDIVIDUAL DEMAND LAMP IS INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

NOTE: Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed will result in false resistance readings. Refer to Battery.

-------------------------------------------------
G1 CHECK CIRCUIT CLN09 (YE/GN) FOR VOLTAGE

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Suspect Demand Lamp .
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between the suspect demand lamp, harness side and ground as follows:

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to G2.

No
REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
G2 CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

- Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable.
- Measure the resistance between the suspect demand lamp connector, harness side and ground as follows:

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
INSTALL a new demand lamp for the suspect lamp. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
