Pinpoint Test F: An Individual Component Illumination Is Inoperative - Non-Dimmable Illumination

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 71, Cluster and Panel Illumination for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

When the delayed accessory relay is energized, voltage is supplied from the Smart Junction Box (SJB) to the door lock control switches (Fusion, Milan), the roof opening panel control switch (if equipped) and the cigar lighter (MKZ) through circuit CBP02 (GN). Ground for the non-dimmable components is shared with the system for which the component is for. If the ground circuit for the component in question is open, that feature is also inoperative. For example, if the ground circuit for the door lock control switch, the roof opening panel or the cigar lighter is open, that feature from that component is also inoperative.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Cigar lighter (MKZ)
- Roof opening panel control switch
- Door lock control switch (Fusion, Milan)
- SJB

PINPOINT TEST F: AN INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT ILLUMINATION IS INOPERATIVE - NON-DIMMABLE ILLUMINATION

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

NOTE: Make sure the power door locks, the roof opening panel and the cigar lighter operate correctly before continuing diagnostics.

F1 CHECK CIRCUIT CBP02 (GN) FOR AN OPEN

- Disconnect: Inoperable Illumination Source.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between the inoperable illumination source harness side and ground as follows:

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
For a door lock control switch, INSTALL a new door lock control switch. REFER to Locks. TEST the system for normal operation.

For the cigar lighter, INSTALL a new cigar lighter. TEST the system for normal operation.

For the roof opening panel control switch, INSTALL a new roof opening control panel switch. REFER to Sunroof / Moonroof. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
