Pinpoint Test M: The Cornering Lamp Is Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 91, Cornering Lamps for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The cornering lamps are provided voltage when the parking lamps are on through circuit 14 (BN). The ground path is routed to the multifunction switch through circuit 380 (VT/YE) for the LH cornering lamp and circuit 379 (BN/WH) for the RH cornering lamp. When the multifunction switch is placed in the LH or RH TURN position, the multifunction switch completes the ground path through circuit 57 (BK).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Multifunction switch

PINPOINT TEST M: THE CORNERING LAMP IS INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

-------------------------------------------------
M1 CHECK THE FLASH-TO-PASS OPERATION

- Ignition ON.
- Place the headlamp switch in the HEADLAMPS ON position.
- Place the multifunction switch in the HIGH BEAM position.
- Does the high beam indicator illuminate?

Yes
If both cornering lamps are inoperative, INSTALL a new multifunction switch. TEST the system for normal operation.

If one cornering lamp is inoperative, GO to M2.

No
REFER to Headlamps.

-------------------------------------------------
M2 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BK) FOR AN OPEN

- Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Inoperative Cornering Lamp.
- Place the headlamp switch in the PARKING LAMPS ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the LH cornering lamp C151-1, circuit 14 (BN), harness side and ground; or between the RH cornering lamp C161-1, circuit 14 (BN), harness side and ground

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to M3.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
M3 CHECK CIRCUIT 380 (VT/YE) (LH CORNERING LAMP) OR CIRCUIT 379 (BN/WH) (RH CORNERING LAMP) FOR AN OPEN

- Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
- Connect: Inoperative Cornering Lamp.
- Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202c.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between the multifunction switch C202c-1 (LH cornering lamp), circuit 380 (VT/YE), harness side and ground; or between the multifunction switch C202c-3 (RH cornering lamp), circuit 379 (BN/WH), harness side and ground.

- Place the headlamp switch in the PARKING LAMPS ON position.
- Is the cornering lamp illuminated?

Yes
REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new multifunction switch. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
