Pinpoint Test V: The Speed Control Indicator Is Never/Always On
Normal Operation
The Instrument Cluster (IC) receives the speed control data from the PCM over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN). When the speed control is engaged, the PCM provides a signal to the IC to illuminate the speed control indicator.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Speed control system
- PCM
- IC
PINPOINT TEST V: THE SPEED CONTROL INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON

V1 CHECK THE SPEED CONTROL OPERATION
- Verify the speed control operates.
- Does the speed control operate correctly?
Yes
GO to V2.
No
REFER to Cruise Control.

V2 CARRY OUT THE IC INDICATOR LAMP ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IC DataLogger.
- Select the IC speed control indicator (SC_SET) active command on and off. Observe the speed control indicator.
- Does the speed control indicator illuminate when selected on, and turn off when selected off?
Yes
INSTALL a new PCM. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.
