Transmission Support Crossmember









Removal

1. WARNING: Before servicing a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system, depower the system by following the procedure in Fire Suppression System. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious personal injury. Procedures
With the vehicle NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.

2. Disconnect the RH Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) sensor connector.





3. Disconnect the RH catalyst monitor connector.





4. Remove the nuts from the RH exhaust flange.





5. Remove the RH catalytic converter-to-exhaust bolts.





6. Disconnect the LH HO2S connector.





7. Disconnect the LH catalyst monitor connector.





8. Remove the nuts from the LH exhaust flange.





9. Remove the LH catalytic converter-to-exhaust bolts.





10. Remove the transmission insulator nuts.





11. Install a suitable transmission jack.

12. Remove the RH side transmission support crossmember bolts.





13. Remove the LH side transmission support crossmember bolts.





14. Remove the bolts and remove the park brake cable bracket and position aside.





15. NOTICE: The transmission support crossmember is a press fit in the transmission support crossmember pocket. It may be necessary to pry the transmission support crossmember out of the transmission support crossmember pocket. Be careful not to damage the transmission support crossmember.

Lower the RH side of the transmission support crossmember.





16. NOTICE: The transmission support crossmember is a press fit in the transmission support crossmember pocket. It may be necessary to pry the transmission support crossmember out of the transmission support crossmember pocket. Be careful not to damage the transmission support crossmember.

Lower the LH side of the transmission support crossmember and remove the transmission support crossmember.





Installation

1. Position the LH side of the transmission support crossmember into the transmission support crossmember pocket and loosely install the bolts.





2. Position the RH side of the transmission support crossmember into the transmission support crossmember pocket and loosely install the bolts.





3. Tighten the LH transmission support crossmember bolts.
- Tighten to 70 Nm (52 lb-ft).





4. Tighten the RH transmission support crossmember bolts.
- Tighten to 70 Nm (52 lb-ft).





5. Install the park brake cable bracket.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).





6. Lower the transmission onto the transmission support crossmember and install the transmission insulator nuts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).





7. Remove the transmission jack.

8. Install a new gasket and position the RH catalytic converter assembly in place. Loosely install the bolts. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.





9. Install the RH exhaust flange nuts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).





10. Tighten the RH catalytic converter-to-exhaust bolts.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).





11. Connect the RH HO2S connector.





12. Connect the RH catalyst monitor connector.





13. Install a new gasket and position the LH catalytic converter assembly in place. Loosely install the bolts. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.





14. Install the LH exhaust flange nuts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).





15. Tighten the LH catalytic converter-to-exhaust bolts.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).





16. Connect the LH HO2S connector.





17. Connect the LH catalyst monitor connector.





18. WARNING: If the vehicle is equipped with a fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to Fire Suppression System. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury. Procedures
