Transaxle Support InsulatorRemoval
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Remove the 2 Y-pipe nuts, disconnect the exhaust hanger and discard the exhaust seal.
^ Discard the gasket and nuts.
3. Remove the 4 nuts, the Y-pipe assembly and discard the exhaust seals.
^ Discard the nuts.
4. Loosen the engine roll restrictor-to-subframe through bolt.
5. Remove the 2 bolts from the roll restrictor bracket.
6. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
7. Disconnect the engine breather from the air cleaner assembly.
8. Remove the 2 air cleaner assembly bracket bolts.
9. Loosen the air cleaner outlet pipe clamp at the throttle body and remove the air cleaner and air cleaner outlet pipe assembly.
10. Remove the battery.
11. Detach the wiring harness retainers from the battery tray.
12. Remove the 2 lower battery tray bracket bolts.
13. Remove the 2 upper battery tray bolts and release the power distribution box (PDB) fasteners and remove the battery tray and bracket.
14. CAUTION: The special tool must be carefully aligned to the mounting bosses on the oil pan. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the oil pan.
Position a floor jack and the special tool under the oil pan and raise the floor jack high enough to release the pressure on the transaxle support insulator.
15. Remove the transaxle support insulator through bolt.
1 Remove the flagnut.
2 Using the special tool, release the tension from the through bolt to remove it from the transaxle mount.
16. Lower the transaxle from the mount about 2 inches.
17. Remove the 4 nuts and the transaxle support insulator bracket.
18. Remove the top transaxle support insulator bolts.
19. Remove the bottom transaxle support insulator bolts and remove the transaxle support insulator.
Installation
1. Install the bottom transaxle support insulator bolts.
^ Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
2. Install the top transaxle support insulator bolts.
^ Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
3. Install the transaxle support insulator bracket and install the 4 nuts.
^ Tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).
4. Using the jack, raise the transaxle and install the transaxle support insulator through bolt.
^ Tighten to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft).
5. Remove the jack and the special tool.
6. Install the battery tray and bracket and connect the PDB fasteners and install the 2 battery tray bolts.
^ Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-inch).
7. Install the 2 lower battery tray bracket bolts.
^ Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-inch).
8. Attach the 5 pin-type wiring harness fasteners to the battery tray.
9. Install the battery.
10. Position the air cleaner assembly in place and install the 2 air cleaner assembly bracket bolts.
^ Tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
11. Tighten the air cleaner outlet pipe clamp at the throttle body.
^ Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-inch).
12. Connect the engine breather to the air cleaner assembly.
13. Connect the MAF sensor electrical connector.
14. Position the roll restrictor in place and install the 2 bolts.
^ Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
15. Tighten the engine roll restrictor-to-subframe through bolt.
^ Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
16. Install new exhaust seals, position the exhaust Y-pipe assembly in place and install 4 new nuts.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
17. Install a new exhaust seal, position the Y-pipe in the exhaust hanger and install 2 new nuts.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
