Removal
All vehicles
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Remove the battery and battery tray.
3. Remove the 4 screws and position the LH fender splash shield aside.
4. Remove the 6 pin-type retainers and the LH front structure-to-subframe splash shield.
5. Remove the 2 lower bolts for the rear transaxle support insulator and remove the transaxle support insulator.
3.0L engine
6. Install the universal lifting brackets on the LH side of the engine.
7. Using the special tools, support the engine.
8. Remove the 2 bolts from the transaxle support insulator.
3.5L engine
9. Remove the exhaust Y-pipe. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System.
10. CAUTION: The special tool must be carefully aligned to the mounting bosses on the oil pan. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the oil pan.
Position a floor jack and the special tool under the oil pan.
11. Remove the air cleaner.
12. Remove the transaxle support insulator through bolt.
All vehicles
13. NOTE: 3.0L engine shown, 3.5L engine similar.
Remove the 2 upper bolts for the rear transaxle support insulator.
Installation
All vehicles
1. Clean the rear transaxle support insulator bolts using a wire brush and apply new Threadlock(R) to the threads.
2. NOTE: 3.0L engine shown, 3.5L engine similar.
Position the transaxle support insulator in place and install the 2 upper bolts.
^ Tighten to 62 Nm (46 lb-ft).
3.5L engine
3. Install the transaxle support insulator through bolt.
^ Tighten to 130 Nm (96 lb-ft).
4. Remove the floor jack and the special tool.
5. Install the air cleaner.
6. Install the exhaust Y-pipe. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System.
All vehicles
7. Position the transaxle support insulator in place and install the 2 lower bolts.
^ Tighten to 62 Nm (46 lb-ft).
8. Position the LH front structure-to-subframe splash shield in place and install the 6 pin-type retainers.
9. Position the LH splash shield in place and install the 4 screws.
3.0L engine
10. Install the 2 transaxle support insulator bolts.
^ Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
11. Remove the special tools.
12. Remove the Universal Lifting Brackets from the LH side of the engine.
All vehicles
13. Install the battery and battery tray.
