FNR5 - Automatic Transaxle
Transmission Fluid Drain and RefillMaterial:
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/service and Repair.
2. Disconnect the transmission fluid cooler return hose from the transaxle.
3. Insert the return hose into a calibrated 10L (10.5 qt) container.
4. CAUTION: To prevent damage to the transaxle, do not run the engine above idle.
NOTE: If the fluid return rate is less than 0.95L (1.0 qt) in 30 seconds, or if the return hose pulsates, check for restrictions at the pump, transmission fluid cooler or transmission fluid cooler lines.
Run the engine at idle and pump out 3L (3.17 qt) of transmission fluid.
5. Switch OFF the engine.
6. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator from the transmission fluid level indicator tube.
7. Add 3L (3.17 qt) of transmission fluid to the transaxle.
8. CAUTION: To prevent damage to the transaxle, do not run the engine above idle.

Run the engine at idle and pump out 3L (3.17 qt) of automatic transmission fluid.
9. Switch OFF the engine.
10. Add 3L (3.17 qt) of transmission fluid to the transaxle.
11. CAUTION: To prevent damage to the transaxle, do not run the engine above idle.
Run the engine at idle and pump out 3L (3.17 qt) of transmission fluid.
12. Switch OFF the engine.
13. Raise the vehicle.
14. Connect the transmission fluid cooler return hose to the transaxle.
15. Add 3L (3.17 qt) of transmission fluid to the transaxle.
16. Install the transmission fluid level indicator in the transmission fluid level indicator tube.
17. CAUTION: To prevent damage to the transaxle, do not run the engine above idle.
Run the engine.
18. Check the transmission fluid level and fill if necessary.
