External Controls - Floor Shift
External Controls - Floor ShiftTransmission Shift Control Linkage
The transmission shift control linkage consists of:
^ a floor console mounted selector lever mechanism.
- A selector lever handle that is retained on the selector lever by 2 attaching screws.
^ a selector lever cable and bracket which connects the floor console mounted selector lever assembly to the manual control lever on the transmission.
- The selector lever cable bracket bolts to the transmission.
Shift Interlock System
The shift interlock system consists of:
^ a shift lock actuator.
- A transmission shift lock actuator, which clips to the actuator retainer, securing the shift lock actuator to the steering column.
- A transmission shift lock actuator cable, which routes to the floor console mounted selector lever assembly lock mechanism.
^ electrical circuits to supply power to lock and unlock the shift lock actuator.
The shift lock mechanism locks the selector lever in PARK:
^ when the ignition switch lock cylinder is in the LOCK position.
^ with the ignition switch lock cylinder in the RUN position and the brake pedal released.
The shift lock actuator releases the selector lever:
^ when the ignition switch lock cylinder is in the FIRST position.
^ with the ignition switch lock cylinder in the RUN position and the brake pedal actuated.
Transmission Control (TC) Switch
The transmission control (TC) switch:
^ is located in the selector lever handle.
- The TC switch is removable from the selector lever handle without disassembly of the console or selector lever unit.
^ is a momentary contact switch.
^ commands the PCM to disengage or engage the overdrive function of the transmission.
- When overdrive (D) is disengaged, the message O/D OFF will illuminate on the instrument panel.
