External Controls - Column Shift

Transmission Shift Control Linkage
The transmission shift control linkage consists of:
^ a selector lever, which connects to the transmission column selector lever cable linkage.
- A selector lever pin secures the gearshift lever to the selector linkage.
^ a selector lever cable and bracket, which connects to the transmission selector lever arm and linkage on the steering column and to the manual control lever on the transmission.
- The selector cable bracket bolts to the transmission.

Shift Interlock System
The shift interlock system consists of:
^ a shift lock actuator.
- A transmission selector lever position insert, which bolts to the steering column and secures the shift lock actuator.
- A contained PARK indicator switch.
^ electrical circuits to supply power to unlock the shift lock actuator.

The shift lock actuator locks the selector lever in PARK:
^ when the ignition switch lock cylinder is in the LOCK position.
^ with the ignition switch lock cylinder in the RUN position and the brake pedal released.

The shift lock actuator releases the selector lever:
^ with the ignition switch lock cylinder in the RUN position and the brake pedal actuated.

Transmission Control (TC) Switch
The transmission control (TC) switch:
^ is located on the end of the selector lever.
- The TC switch is not removable from the selector lever. Install a new selector lever if a new TC switch is required.
^ is a momentary contact switch.
^ commands the PCM to disengage or engage the overdrive function of the transmission.
- When overdrive (D) is disengaged, the message O/D OFF will illuminate on the instrument panel.
