Coolant PumpRemoval and Installation
1. WARNING: Before servicing a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system, depower the system by following the procedure in Fire Suppression System. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious personal injury.
Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.
2. Loosen the 4 coolant pump pulley bolts.
3. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories.
4. Remove the 4 bolts and the coolant pump pulley.
^ To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
5. Remove the 4 bolts and the coolant pump.
^ Discard the O-ring seal.
^ To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
6. WARNING: If the vehicle is equipped with a fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to Fire Suppression System. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.
CAUTION: Do not rotate the coolant pump housing once installed in the engine. Damage to the O-ring seal can occur, causing the coolant pump to leak.
NOTE: Install a new O-ring seal and lubricate with the clean engine coolant.
To install, reverse the removal procedure. If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system.
7. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
