Removal and Installation

1. WARNING: Before servicing a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system, depower the system by following the procedure in Fire Suppression System. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious personal injury.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System.
3. Remove and discard the oil filter.
^ To install, lubricate the new oil filter O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
4. Remove the oil cooler hose bolt and remove the oil cooler hoses from the oil filter adapter.
^ To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

5. CAUTION: If metal or aluminum material is present in the oil cooler or oil cooler hoses, mechanical concerns exist. Severe damage to the engine may occur.

Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses and remove the oil cooler assembly.
^ Inspect the oil cooler.

6. WARNING: If the vehicle is equipped with a fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to Fire Suppression System. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

To install, reverse the removal procedure. If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system.
