Removal and Installation
WARNING:
- Never probe the electrical connectors on air bag, safety canopy or side air curtain modules. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of these modules, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
- To reduce the risk of accidental deployment, do not use any memory saver devices. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death.
NOTE:
- The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
- The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
All vehicles
1. Position the driver seat all the way back and up.
2. Position the passenger seat all the way forward.
3. Depower the SRS.
Vehicles with power seats
NOTE: The power seat position sensor is mounted on the inboard side of the driver inboard seat track.
4. Disconnect the seat position sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove the seat position sensor bolt.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
6. Remove the seat position sensor.
- Press the sensor tab inward to release and remove the seat position sensor.
7. Remove the magnet assembly bolt.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
8. Remove the magnet assembly.
- Slide the magnet assembly rearward to release the front tab to remove the magnet assembly.
Vehicles with manual seats
9. Disconnect the seat position sensor electrical connector.
10. Remove the bolt and the seat position sensor.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
All vehicles
11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
12. Repower the SRS.
