Test B: The Message Center Switch Does Not Operate Correctly
PINPOINT TEST B: THE MESSAGE CENTER SWITCH DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLYNormal Operation
The message center functionality is controlled through the message center switches, which are hardwired to the instrument cluster (IC). The instrument cluster (IC) monitors the message center switch input by sending reference signals through circuits 143 (LB/YE) and 152 (LB/WH). The message center switch return signal is routed back to the instrument cluster (IC) through circuit 1411 (GY/OG).
DTC B1205 (EIC Switch-1 Assembly Circuit Failure) - is a continuous or on-demand DTC that sets if the instrument cluster (IC) detects a stuck RESET or SETUP switch, or a switch that has been pressed for longer than 2 minutes, on circuit 143 (LB/YE).
DTC B1206 (EIC Switch-1 Assembly Circuit Open) - is a continuous or on-demand DTC that sets if the instrument cluster (IC) detects an open on circuit 143 (LB/YE).
DTC B1208 (EIC Switch-1 Assembly Circuit Short To Ground) - is a continuous or on-demand DTC that sets if the instrument cluster (IC) detects a short to ground on circuit 143 (LB/YE).
DTC B1209 (EIC Switch-2 Assembly Circuit Failure) - is a continuous or on-demand DTC that sets if the instrument cluster (IC) detects a stuck INFO or SELECT switch, or a switch that has been pressed for longer than 2 minutes, on circuit 152 (LB/WH).
DTC B1210 (EIC Switch-2 Assembly Circuit Open) - is a continuous or on-demand DTC that sets if the instrument cluster (IC) detects an open on circuit 152 (LB/WH).
DTC B1212 (EIC Switch-2 Assembly Circuit Short To Ground) - is a continuous or on-demand DTC that sets if the instrument cluster (IC) detects a short to ground on circuit 152 (LB/WH).
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Message center switch
- Instrument cluster (IC)
