Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to electrical charges. The ABS module can be damaged if exposed to these charges.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Disconnect the anti-lock brake system (ABS) electrical connector.

3. NOTE: Brake tubes must be installed in the same location as removed.

Loosen the brake tube-to-hydraulic control unit (HCU) fittings and position the brake lines aside.
^ To install, tighten to 17 Nm (13 lb-ft).
4. Remove the 2 bracket-to-HCU bolts and the HCU.
^ To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Bleed the brake system.
