Normal Operation
The audio unit sends a reference voltage to the steering wheel controls through circuit 595 (LB/RD). Each steering wheel control switch function corresponds with a specific resistance value within the switch. When a switch is pressed, the audio unit monitors the change in reference voltage to determine the requested function. Ground for the steering wheel controls is provided through circuit 1204 (BK/OG).
DTC B1117 - sets when a switch is detected active on circuit 595 (LB/RD) for more than 120 seconds during normal operation, or for more than 3 seconds while in self-test.
DTC B1136 - sets when the reference voltage from the audio unit is out-of-range due to a short to ground or open on the steering wheel control circuit.
Possible Causes
- Circuit 595 (LB/RD) open or short to ground
- Circuit 1204 (BK/OG) open
- Steering wheel controls
- Clockspring
- Audio unit
