Normal Operation
The LOW FUEL LEVEL warning is displayed when the fuel level reaches a predetermined level of approximately 1/8 tank. The LOW FUEL LEVEL warning display and the fuel gauge are controlled by the instrument cluster based upon the distance until empty (DTE) calculated internally by the instrument cluster from data received from the powertrain control module (PCM) and fuel gauge. When the instrument cluster receives the data, the fuel gauge indicates low fuel and the instrument cluster displays LOW FUEL LEVEL.
