SAFETY BELT BUCKLE - REARRemoval and Installation
WARNING: All safety belt assemblies (including retractors, belt tension sensor [BTS], if equipped, buckles, shoulder belt height adjusters [if equipped], child safety seat tether attachments and attaching hardware) should be inspected after every collision. All new belt assemblies should be installed unless a qualified technician finds the assemblies show no damage and operate correctly. Belt assemblies not in use during a collision should also be inspected and new assemblies installed if either damage or incorrect operation is noted. Failure to follow these instructions could increase the risk of personal injury in collisions.
NOTE: The RH safety belt buckle is a part of the rear center safety belt retractor assembly.
1. WARNING: If equipped with fire suppression system, depower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to Fire Suppression System.
For police vehicles equipped with fire suppression, depower the fire suppression system.
2. Remove the rear seat cushion.
3. Remove the nut and safety belt buckle assembly.
- To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
4. NOTE: Make sure the safety belts and the safety belt buckles are routed correctly and are placed on the seat cushion.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
5. WARNING: If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to Fire Suppression System.
For police vehicles equipped with fire suppression, repower the fire suppression system.
6. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.
