Fire Suppression Module: Service and Repair

FIRE SUPPRESSION MODULE

Removal and Installation

1. WARNING:
- To reduce the risk of accidental deployment, do not use any memory saver devices. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
- If the vehicle is equipped with a fire suppression system, be sure that no one is under the vehicle or near the rear axle area when the battery is connected due to the possibility of an accidental fire suppression system deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Disconnect the battery.

2. Remove the rear seat cushion pad and frame.
1 Apply pressure to the lower front portion of the rear seat cushion pad and frame.
2 Push the rear seat cushion pad and frame rearward to disengage the rear seat cushion front retainers.

3. WARNING: The tightening torque of the fire suppression module bolts is critical for correct system operation.

Remove the 4 bolts and the fire suppression module.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

4. WARNING: The fire suppression module orientation is critical for correct system operation. If a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system has been involved in a collision in which the rear floor panel area has been damaged, inspect the mounting bracket for damage. If the mounting bracket is damaged, a new fire suppression module must be installed whether or not the fire suppressors have deployed. In addition, make sure the area of the fire suppression module mounting area is restored to its original condition.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
