CAUTION: Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators. They may cause deterioration of the rubber.
CAUTION: Oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators may cause the exhaust hanger isolators to separate from the exhaust hanger bracket during vehicle operation.
1. WARNING: If equipped with fire suppression system, depower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to Fire Suppression System.
With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Remove the rear suspension lateral arms.
3. Remove the rear coil springs.
4. Remove the 2 nuts and the clamp.
^ To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
5. NOTE: Check the isolator for wear or damage. Install a new isolator as necessary.
Detach the isolator.
6. NOTE: Check the isolator for wear or damage. Install a new isolator as necessary.
NOTE: Carefully turn the muffler and tailpipe assembly counterclockwise around the rear axle to remove.
Detach the isolator and remove the muffler and tailpipe.
7. NOTE: Install new exhaust fasteners. Do not tighten the fasteners until all components are assembled.
NOTE: Alternately tighten the fasteners to specification, to draw flanges together evenly.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ To install, tighten to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
8. WARNING: If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to Fire Suppression System.
If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system.
