Test C: Poor Quality/Distorted/No Sound From One Or More Speakers (Not All Speakers)
PINPOINT TEST C: POOR QUALITY/DISTORTED/NO SOUND FROM ONE OR MORE SPEAKERS (NOT ALL SPEAKERS)C1-C2:
C2-C3:
Normal Operation
When the key is placed in START, voltage is sent to the audio unit through circuit 1000 (RD/BK). When the audio unit receives this signal, it mutes the speaker signals. After the key is removed from START, the audio unit directs audio signals to the speakers through separate positive and negative circuits. The audio unit provides internal circuit protection for shorts to ground, shorts to B+ battery, or shorts between any output circuits.
Possible Causes
- Circuit 800 (GY/LB) open, short to ground or voltage
- Circuit 801 (TN/YE) open, short to ground or voltage
- Circuit 802 (OG/RD) open, short to ground or voltage
- Circuit 803 (BN/PK) open, short to ground or voltage
- Circuit 804 (OG/LG) open, short to ground or voltage
- Circuit 805 (WH/LG) open, short to ground or voltage
- Circuit 811 (DG/OG) open, short to ground or voltage
- Circuit 813 (LB/WH) open, short to ground or voltage
- Speaker
- Audio unit
NOTE: Use the speaker walk-around test to determine which speaker(s) has a concern.
