Normal Operation
The passive anti-theft system (PATS) transceiver receives voltage through circuit 1266 (RD/YE) and grounds through circuit 1203 (BK/LB). The PATS transceiver provides the interface between the PATS key and the PCM. During each vehicle start sequence, the powertrain control module (PCM) queries the PATS key through circuit 1216 (GY/OG) and compares the information with the PATS key information stored in the PCM memory through the PATS transceiver transmit circuit 1215 (WH/LG). The PCM then enables the starting functions of the engine.
Possible Causes
- fuse
- circuit 1203 (BK/LB) open
- circuit 1216 (GY/OG) open or short to voltage
- circuit 1215 (WH/LG) open or short to voltage
- circuit 1266 (RD/YE) open or short to ground
- PATS transceiver
- PATS key
- PCM
