Selector Lever - Floor ShifterRemoval and Installation
1. WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any front or side air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) components and before servicing, replacing, adjusting or striking components near the front or side air bag sensors, such as doors, instrument panel, console, door latches, strikers, seats and hood latches.
Please refer to Air Bag Systems to determine location of the front air bag sensors.
The side air bag sensors are located at or near the base of the B-pillar.
To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. Be sure to disconnect auxiliary batteries and power supplies (if equipped).
Disconnect the battery ground cable. Wait at least one minute before proceeding with the procedure to allow the backup power supply to deplete its energy. For additional information, refer to Battery.
2. Remove the instrument panel finish panel and disconnect the electrical connector.
3. Lift the console finish panel and remove.
4. Push shift handle bezel down and disconnect TC switch harness.
5. Remove the 2 shift handle retaining screws and remove the shift handle.
6. Lift the indicator bezel and remove the bulb.
7. Release the interlock cable housing clip and disconnect the interlock cable.
8. Disconnect the shift cable from the shifter assembly.
9. Release the shift cable housing clip from the shifter assembly.
10. Release the electrical connector pushpin retainer from the shifter assembly.
11. Disconnect the electrical connector.
12. Disconnect the vacuum harness from the parking brake release mechanism.
13. Remove 4 nuts retaining shifter mechanism to floor and remove the shifter.
^ To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
14. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
