Air Suspension Compressor





Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they effect performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. A new part with the same part number or an equivalent part must be installed, if installation is necessary. Do not use a part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.

1. WARNING: The electrical power to the air suspension system must be turned off prior to hoisting, jacking or towing an air suspension vehicle. Failure to do so can result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which can result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Turn the air suspension service switch to the OFF position.
2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
3. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.





4. Remove the air compressor drier cover.
^ Remove the pushpins.
^ Remove the air compressor drier cover.





5. Remove the compressor canister pushpin and remove the compressor canister.
6. Disconnect the air suspension compressor.
1 Compress the quick connect locking ring and pull out the air line.
2 Disconnect the air suspension compressor electrical connector.
7. Remove the air suspension compressor retaining nuts.
^ To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).

8. Remove the air suspension compressor.

9. NOTE: To correctly reinstall the air lines into the compressor drier, a minimum of 3 mm (1/8 inch) of visible white air line must be inserted into the fitting.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
