Removal and Installation

1. WARNING: The electrical power to the air suspension system must be shut off prior to hoisting, jacking or towing an air suspension vehicle. This can be accomplished by turning off the air suspension service switch. Failure to do so can result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which can result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

If equipped, turn the air suspension service switch to the OFF position.
2. Check the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir.
^ If required, remove the fluid until the brake master cylinder reservoir is half full.

3. WARNING: If equipped with fire suppression system, depower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to Fire Suppression System.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.

4. CAUTION: Do not pry in the caliper sight hole to retract the pistons, as this can damage the pistons and boots.

CAUTION: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.

Remove the 2 brake caliper bolts and position the caliper aside.
^ Support the brake caliper using mechanic's wire.
^ To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

5. CAUTION: Do not allow grease, oil, brake fluid or other contaminants to contact the brake pads.

Remove the brake pads.

6. CAUTION: Protect the piston and boots when pushing the caliper piston into the caliper piston bores.

If installing new brake pads, using a suitable tool and a worn brake pad, compress the disc brake caliper pistons into the caliper.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Make sure the anti-rattle clips are clean and in good condition.
^ Verify correct brake operation.

8. WARNING: If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to Fire Suppression System.

If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system.
9. If equipped, turn the air suspension service switch to the ON position.
