Normal Operation
When the luggage compartment is open and the ignition switch is in the RUN position, the lighting control module (LCM) sends the instrument cluster a message over the SCP communication network to illuminate the trunk ajar message. A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is set if circuit 486 (BN/WH) is shorted to ground.

Possible Causes
- circuit 486 (BN/WH) short to ground
- luggage compartment lamp
- luggage compartment lid latch
- LCM
- instrument cluster
